When we launched the CLA we discussed how our achievements would play out in the life of a child born in 2010. How would their access to culture be altered over the next 10, 15 or 20 years? We were rather taken with the idea of a virtual ‘Futurebaby’ who would be the prism through whom all educational or cultural developments would be viewed – i.e. what do government changes affecting cultural learning mean for this child, born in 2010, when it starts nursery/starts school etc.? Quentin Blake even created an image of Futurebaby for us (pictured above).Now, with perfect timing, Jack has emerged into a new policy landscape as this government’s very own Futurebaby – as we track our Futurebaby’s cultural learning prospects in the education system, they will mirror Jack’s (that’s if he enters the state system of course). In the meantime, we wish the family all the best.
