The following organisations work in the North East region and provide networks, advice and training for those working in cultural learning.
Customs House, North & South Tyneside organise a dynamic and inspiring range of cultural activities for all the region’s communities. The team delivers an extensive programme, including Creative Partnerships North & South Tyneside, Arts in Education across North and South Tyneside, Arts in the Community for South Tyneside, and Find Your Talent North & South Tyneside – as well as curating innovative contemporary visual arts exhibitions across four gallery spaces.
Dance City Creative Partnerships (Tees Valley) is situated in a strongly urban and industrialised setting covering five local authorities – Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland, and Darlington. Its vision is to effect positive change in the aspirations, achievement and well-being of young people across the region by embedding creative practice in education, placing it at the heart of the regeneration of the Tees Valley.
The Forge, working in Durham and Sunderland, has established a national reputation for developing participatory arts work of the highest standard with children and young people. Their expertise is in developing high-quality participatory arts and cultural projects, building skills, capacity and vision through training, development and creative programmes to ensure that their work goes far beyond a project-based approach, embedding sustainable practice for children and young people.
The Centre for Creativity and Learning, University of Sunderland aims to deliver a research-focused programme of work through partnerships and collaborations between partner schools and the cultural sector that extends creative learning, develops new knowledge, and brokers new collaborations and cultural production within school settings across Durham and Sunderland.
